Should great art be moved?
The Telegraph has an interesting article discussing the problems that can occur when a work of art is transported between museums.
Moving pieces of art means that some works get lost, damaged, or stolen. Considering this, is transportation worth it for the painting to just appear at a crowded show where no one can really appreciate the art?
I understand the point the author is making, but I believe that artwork should be moved and shared from time to time so as many people as possible can have access to them. The treasure of art work should be shared to the world, not just sit in sedentary museum exhibitions. And while these blockbuster exhibitions attract huge crowds that block the very pieces they came to see, people still turn out in droves and I think, justify art’s masterpieces being transported to museums worldwide.
Regardless this is a very thought provoking article.
